Every qualifying GAF asphalt-shingle roof we install with Silver Pledge coverage must meet GAF’s product and installation requirements. We install the qualifying system and submit the warranty application and registration to GAF for you.

GAF issues the warranty and makes final coverage and claim decisions under its terms. Your project documents will identify the roofing system and warranty included with your roof.

What the terms mean

Two types of protection

Silver Pledge separates manufacturing-defect coverage from coverage for qualifying installation errors.

50 years

Non-prorated manufacturing-defect coverage

Non-prorated means the value of a covered claim is not reduced simply because the roof has aged during the first 50 years. If an eligible GAF product has a covered manufacturing defect during that period, the warranty may include replacement materials, reasonable installation labor, tear-off, and disposal when needed.

After the non-prorated period, limited coverage may continue, but the amount GAF provides can be reduced to account for the years of use already received from the roof.

10 years

Coverage for qualifying installation errors

This is often called workmanship or misapplication coverage. It applies when GAF determines that covered GAF roofing products or specified flashing details were installed incorrectly and the problem falls within the warranty terms.

For an approved claim, GAF may arrange the repair or provide covered replacement products and reasonable repair costs as described in the warranty.

    We submit the Silver Pledge warranty application and registration to GAF on the homeowner’s behalf.

    Keep the issued warranty

    The homeowner receives the GAF warranty documents that state the coverage, requirements, and claim process for the roof.

Important details

The warranty has defined limits

Silver Pledge is a limited warranty, not coverage for every type of roof damage. Eligibility, covered products, registration requirements, exclusions, transfer rules, and claim procedures apply. Causes such as hail, structural movement, inadequate ventilation, and damage involving products outside the covered GAF system may not be covered.
